1940 Train-Truck Collision Memorial
1940 TRAIN-TRUCK COLLISION TRAGEDY MEMORIAL

On March 14, 1940 at Tower Road and Business 83 in Alamo a train on the Mission Pacific Rail line ran into a truck carrying over 40 farm
workers ages 10 to 48, killing 34 people.

Today there is a memorial on the site to those who died and suffered. This was the most fatalities on a Texas highway in the 20th century.
