| 516 Doherty The theater complex had its early beginnings in a brick building known as Teatro La Paz (Peace Theater). The theater, built in 1912 by Juan Bautista Barbera a native of Spain who came to the United States in 1905. Barbera brought films, lecturers, actors and musicians to this theater. In 1945 Enrique Flores who changed the name to Rio Theater purchased the property and business. The theater has long reflected the bicultural character of the community. (956) 519-0292 |
